Kenya has suspended all passenger flights to and from the United Arab Emirates (UAE) in retaliation for Dubai's move to ban all passenger flights from Kenya due to fake Covid-19 tests.
The Director General of the Tanzania Civil Aviation Authority (KCAA) Gilbert Kibe told The EastAfrican newspaper on Tuesday that the suspension began at midnight on Monday for seven days. The ban however does not affect cargo flights that are usually transported by carriers such as Kenya Airways and Emirates Airlines from UEA to Kenya.
"Domestic and international passenger flights from the UAE have been suspended for seven days. We are doing this in response to the ban on Kenyan passenger flights to the UAE, ”Kibe said.
The ban comes just days after the UAE extended its air travel ban in Kenya after discovering that travelers from Nairobi were tested and diagnosed with Covid-19 after arriving in the Middle East nation, despite positive results. that they did not have the Covid virus.
