Atletico Madrid striker Fernando Torres has officially signed a one-year extension with the club.
Fernando Torres will follow his hometown club to their new Wanda Metropolitano stadium next season after signing a new one year deal with the club.
The deal was announced today.
After returning from his holidays, the 33-year-old sat down with club officials and an agreement was found to tie the player to the club until June 30 2018.
Torres is believed to have turned down several offers in order to stay at the club.
Atletico only offer one-deal deals to players once they reach 30. No doubt next summer club and player will sit down again to see whether the legend of 'el niño' will continue.
Torres was a valuable squad member last season, making 45 appearances in all competitions, scoring 10 times and providing 7 assists.
He scored twice in the final game of the season at home to Athletic Bilbao as Atletico said an emotional farewell to the Vicente Calderon.
