Gabonese national team captain Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has abruptly left the ongoing Africa Cup of Nations in Cameroon amid rumors of misconduct, and the country's all-time top scorer has broken his silence on the issue.
Aubameyang did not play in the opening matches of the AFCON 2021 in the Gabonese national team, nor was he in the team when they beat Comoros after being infected with the Corona virus before being left out of the match on Sunday match against Ghana.
The Gabonese Football Association announced last week that Aubameyang, along with teammates Mario Lemina and Axel Meye, had been diagnosed with "heart ulcers".
According to The Guardian, Aubameyang and Lemina will return to their respective clubs, Arsenal and Nice, so that they can undergo further tests on their health status.
However, rumors have been circulating on social media that the two players were not fired due to health problems but because of misconduct. On Monday evening, the Gabonese captain took to Twitter to refute any false rumors.
Aubameyan wrote the following words on the twitter account in French with the following meaning
"We have problems that are already complicated to solve, then to that are added rumours, in short, we have a health to take care of above all, I will not go back on these false rumors and I wish with all my heart that our team will go as far as possible".
